Um, bipartisanship anyone?
So thus far we've got ousted former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle as Secretary of Health and Human Services and Arizona governor Janet Napolitano as head of Homeland Security. Supposedly former presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and John Kerry have been floated as potential candidates for Secretary of State.
When exactly do we get this vaunted bipartisan cabinet that Obama promised?

But Team of Rivals was so influential to Obama.
For the record, the Team of Rivals in Lincoln's administration was still all Republicans. They just happened to mostly be Republicans he had beaten for the Republican nomination.
You could POSSIBLY include Secretary of War Edmund Stanton as a Democrat because he served at the end of the James Buchanan administration....but honestly on all the major issues of the time (the War, emancipation, rights of freed slaves) he was hardcore Republican.
Andrew Johnson was a Democrat, but he was never really part of Lincoln's team. Which is one reason they hated him once he was in office.
Has there been speculation as to who Obama would put as Secretary of Defense? Maybe that would be a moderate Republican.
I guess the hard part is he also wants to put in people who would advance his issue agenda. Those would probably be Democrats. Not that that's a justification....just a potential reason. We'll see I suppose.
Yeah, for Secretary of Defense, a lot of people are expecting him to retain Bob Gates, which in my opinion would be a good thing. Other names I've heard floated that are Republicans are Chuck Hagel and Dick Lugar (also both solid choices). So I'm not despairing. Yet.
