Love songs

Alright folks, weddings always put me in a romantic mood, and since Ben's wedding last weekend, I've been listening to love songs (of both the romantic and unrequited varieties). So here's the question I want to pose to the gallery: what are the best romantic love songs you can think of that wouldn't ordinarily appear on most people's lists? I've been thinking on this a little bit, and I've got a short list compiled:

That's my little list for now. I'm sure there are plenty I'm missing. What's everyone else got?

More to come when I'm not in post-concert euphoria (more on that later as well), but a couple Texas-based additions for you.

Blue October -- 18th Floor Balcony
Flyleaf -- There For You
SouthFM- Dancing Like This

The adrenaline is fading so I'll leave it at that for now

Gone Again - Standing Here Alone

That's the first one that comes to mind. It's sort of a love song and a longing song.

Songs in the "how the hell did I forget those?" category: 18th Floor Balcony and Rain Song.

Songs in the "good call though I wouldn't personally have thought of them" category: The Weather, Dancing Like This and Apple Blossom (and how did Jeff beat you to the White Stripes, Ben?).

Songs in the "great song but not quite what I was looking for" category: Standing Here Alone (though it certainly qualifies as a story-of-my-life song - perhaps a future post on those).

Songs in the "haven't heard them but will now look into them category": pretty much everything else.

Great suggestions guys, keep 'em coming.

"Spit on a Stranger" is my favorite love song.

I like difficult love songs - I tend to like the ones that border more on lost love, the idea of something that's lost...yes. Because sometimes an idea is better than the real thing. But only sometimes.

But anyway, few more favorites:

"Country Hell," Cardigans
"Lack of Color," Death Cab for Cutie
"Les Os," The Unicorns
"X&Y," Coldplay
"Like a Friend," Pulp

I'll stop, I could add way too many.

A few more random additions:

Black Lab -- "Circus Lights"
The Nixons -- "Nobody 101"
Default-- "Beautiful Flower"
Five Dollar Friend -- "Dancehall"

The Juliana Theory - Jewel to Sparkle

Eisley - My Lovely

Jars of Clay - Disappear

Jars of Clay - Show You Love

White Stripes - Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground..........Okay, so it's actually well known, but it's damn sweet for a rock song. Speaking of which....

Smashing Pumpkins - Stand Inside Your Love

And I stand by "Standing Here Alone"
